Write your congressman!

Så har man då gjort det. Som i en amerikansk film. Skrivit till sin parlamentsledamot. Jag har just avslutat skickandet av 96 stycken mejl, vardera till ca fem Members of European Parliament (Jag ville inte det skulle se ut som ett massmejl.)

Varför skriver jag då till min parlamentsledamot. Jag tror mejlet talar för sig själv.

Dear Sir/Madam

I am a Swedish Citizen and a worried European. I believe that the right to privacy is the most important tenets of a democratic society.

I see this threatened by companies, governments and bilateral super-national agreements.

This week there is important decisions taken in Brussels, decisions that might influence me and my kids for years to come.

I am referring to the Telecoms Package that will be decided the 5th of May. We need the European legislative body to take our need of privacy in our use of the knew communication technologies into account. We are afraid that repressive political ideas (such as IPRED) that we’ve seen all over Europe – in Sweden, France etcetera will take root and spread.

Today Swedish MEP Christofer Fjellner is collecting signatures for amendment 166. If the Civil Rights Amendment doesn’t stand It’s imperative that the 166 and the 138(46) is put to the vote instead. Amendment 166 can be signed in MEP Fjellner’s office ASP 13E116. It needs to be done before 12 o’clock noon, Wednesday april 29th. Otherwise the amendment want be put to the vote may 5th.

I sincerely urge you to consider this and to take the time out of your day to help us. We need 39 signatures.
